Starchild

After School Program

We provide a snack and homework/ tutoring assistance. Students are required to read for at least 20 minutes per day. Homework completion is expected to end at approximately 5:00PM. After 5PM, students are offered, depending on the day, a variety of activities. Outdoor activities are offered weather and time permitting.

At the end of the school day, teachers will direct students enrolled in the StarChild after-school program to the cafeteria will StarChild staff will lead students outside for 20 to 30 minutes of outdoor play (weather permitting). At approximately 3PM, students will reenter the building and enjoy a snack. The snack is typically pizza, sandwiches, bagels, yogurt, pasta, and always a choice of fresh fruit. After snack, students begin their homework. Homework assistance is provided and checked for completion and corrected as needed. We also require students to read silently for 20 minutes each day. This allows students to record reading time in their journals.

At 5PM, depending on the day, StarChild offers a variety of programs. The *tentative schedule* is as follows:

$20/Day or $75/Week

☆ Monday—Martial Arts
☆ Tuesday – ELA Test Prep
☆ Wednesday – Healthy Eating Snack Preparation
☆ Thursday – Math Test Prep
☆ Friday – Financial Literacy (Stock Market Game for students in grades 3-6) For students in grades K-2, we offer other activities.

As the year progresses, and if we have more interest and enrollment, we may offer additional programming to include guitar and language lessons.

Please Note: A minimum number of registered students is required for after school program to begin!
